Storm Damage
When the roof of a house is damaged from a storm, the water raining into the attic will continue to soak into insulation, making it heavy. Combine that with wet ceiling drywall, and the result is ceilings coming down and the wet insulation covering everything in the room. In this particular house damaged by Hurricane Harvey, the blown insulation covered the bedroom’s carpet. The fiberglass in the insulation becomes embedded into the carpet and cannot be cleaned up thoroughly. SERVPRO of Corpus Christi East removed all the insulation throughout the house and removed all the damaged carpet and carpet pad. At that point, the sub-floor was exposed and we were able to dry it out.
