2017 was a tough year when it came to storms. Most of Texas felt the danger that storms possess and can cause. Storm season, in Texas is June through November with August and September being the worst months for storms. For 2018, NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a 75-percent chance that the hurricane season will be near- or above-normal. The best ways to stay safe is to be informed. Today there are many outlets for news whether its: news channels, weather apps, social media or radio. It’s always best to listen to your local news because the city government can release information faster that way.
If a local government is giving orders to evacuate make sure to follow the best you can. Plan accordingly for the trip and make sure all priority belongings are with you. If you are in an area that does not have evacuation orders, be sure you have your supplies ready. Visit www.ready.gov to get information on how to prepare for a hurricane. Your home and belongings can be replaced, however you can’t. It is best to stay alert and be willing to relocate if necessary.
