Storm Update for the Month of August
8/22/2018 (Permalink)
The 2018 Hurricane Season outlook has been updated w/ lower numbers predicted, due to developing El Nino, cooler Atlantic water temps & several other factors. Regardless, you should still have your hurricane plans in place as we approach the peak of the season. It only takes one!
In a separate analysis, atmospheric scientists at Colorado State University forecast an “average” season with 13 named storms, six becoming hurricanes. They find that the Atlantic has cooled a bit in the last two months, making it less conducive to fueling strong storms.
It is very difficult to predict when a hurricane may occur, however it isn’t difficult to prepare for a disaster such as a hurricane. SERVPRO offers literature through blogs and brochures that deal with hurricane preparedness. We also provide an Emergency Readiness Profile for businesses to have a plan if a disaster ever occurs.
