SERVPRO of Corpus Christi East understands that disasters are unpredictable.  As we all know hurricane season can be very stressful especially when there are tropical storms brewing. However, we want to help relieve some of the stress with a few helpful tips. It's important to protect your home ahead of time so that you can limit the damage. One way is to purchase hurricane shutters or have plywood cutouts for all your windows. Another important tip is to make sure you secure your outdoor items, this can prevent any items such as potted plants, and lawn chairs to cause damage to your property due to high winds. If you are evacuating a storm, and are leaving a vehicle behind, it's important to park your vehicle on higher ground. It only takes two feet of water to carry a vehicle away.  Another important tip is to record or video all your belongings. This could potentially be a helpful way to provide information to your insurance company if a disaster should strike your property. Let's hope South Texas doesn't have another Harvey, but if we do let's be better prepared for tomorrow.
